In Timelier, a channel is the way in which reminders are delivered. To send SMS reminders to a phone number, we strongly recommend you verify that phone number first.
Why Verify a Phone Number?
Verification is necessary to ensure that the owner of the phone number agrees to receive SMS reminders from Timelier. This helps prevent spam and unauthorized messaging. Recipients can always opt out by replying “stop”.
Unverified SMS Limits: You can send reminders to unverified phone numbers, but they are strictly limited to 1 reminder per day and 4 reminders per month per unverified number. Verifying the phone number removes these restrictions, allowing you to use your standard plan limits.
How to Access the Verification Page
There are multiple ways to access the Manage Verified Phone Numbers page:
- From the Channels Page: Navigate to the Channels page in the app and click the pencil (edit) icon next to the SMS channel.
- From the Account Management Page: Navigate to the Account Management page and scroll down to the Current Usage section. Under the Unverified Phone Numbers table, you can click the verify link next to any unverified phone number you have recently contacted. This will take you directly to the verification page with the phone number pre-filled.
The Verification Process
Once you are on the Manage Verified Phone Numbers page, here is how the process works:
- To: Enter the 10-digit phone number you want to verify (if it isn’t already pre-filled).
- From: Enter your Sender Name and select a Sender Email from the dropdown menu. The available sender emails are based on the calendar and event sources you have already connected to Timelier.
- Click the Send Verification button.
- An SMS text message will be sent to the recipient containing a 6-digit verification code and a direct verification link.
- The recipient can either click the link in the message to verify instantly, or they can provide you with the 6-digit code.
- If you are given the code, find the phone number in the PENDING VERIFICATION section of the page, enter the code, and click Verify.
Managing Verifications
- Pending Verifications: In this section, you can see all phone numbers currently awaiting verification and when their codes expire. If the recipient didn’t receive the SMS, you can click Resend to send a new code.
- Verified Phone Numbers: Once a phone number is successfully verified, it will appear in the VERIFIED PHONE NUMBERS list at the bottom of the page. You can now send SMS reminders to this phone number using your full plan limits.
